2010 Garden and Lifestyle Expo

ANFD Events
 
The Orange Field Day Co-op Ltd owns 130 hectares of grazing land at Borenore where the annual agricultural exhibition is held.
 
The site is used throughout the year to conduct livestock trials and for other events such as the Central West Garden and Lifestyle Expo.

2010 ANFD Steer Competition

The 2010 ANCARE/CRT National Steer Competition commenced on 18 October with 28 teams of 4 steers.The steers were run on grass at the ANFD site for 50 days before moving to Gundamian Feedlot at Eugowra where they are currently being run for there 100 days on grain.
 
At the completition of the competition the steers will be reduced to 3 steers and assessed before being trucked to Cargill Beef Abattoir in Wagga for slaughter.
 
The Steers will be MSA graded and visually assessed. Cargill's target HSCW is 380kg.
 



FEATURE EXHIBIT - Yet to be Announced

The Feature Exhibit for the 2010 is yet to be announced. The 2009 Feature was "Changing Agriculture in a Changing Environment". The exhibit was mounted jointly by the Central West and Lachlan Catchment Management Authorities.
 
The exhibition took place within and outside the Trevor Elliott Pavillion. The Exhibit  consisted of activities including:-
 
  • Advice, Information & Technical Support
  • Knowledge & Proffessional Development
  • Planning & Resource Access
  • Interactive Sessions such as Soil Pits, Soil and Water Testing, Photo Competitions
  • Display of machinery and partners
  • Leading landholders speaking about climate change issue.
